A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Posted under Stan's Blog

To all my friends who gave me the encouragement to do the “Penny Challenge” and members of the clubs that supported it, I would like to say a big thank you for your kindness and generosity that you gave me during my challenge. It was an experience that one could not put a price on. It is one which I will cherish for the rest of my life, meeting so many wonderful people.
Unfortunately, during the challenge, there have been a number of children in those hospices who have passed away, and that fills me with sadness. The hospices do a fantastic job, and their worth is not realized to the full by many, as they are under funded by the government. To the staff, carers, and voluntary workers who diligently support these children 24/7. I raise my hat off to you, as do all the friends and associates whom I met along the way. To date the challenge has raised over £ 4,500 with more funds to come in. An update will be posted during the coming weeks. So,

THANK YOU   for putting a smile on those children’s faces.

Here’s something I will leave you with that will make you smile, as it relates to off days on the golf course for which many of us can aspire too, as….Golf, ain’t Easy

I cleaned and washed my balls last night,
I hope and pray for accurate flight,
My bag is spotless, my clubs are clean,
Today I’m going to realise a dream.

At the crack of dawn I raise my head,
Checking to see the Missus ain’t dead,
Sparrows atwitter and taking the Mick,
Today, that golf course I’m going to lick.

On the first tee I step up with pride,
I know it all, there’s no need to hide,
I’ve got it this time that’s for sure,
Right arm close to get some draw.

A quick look around to see they’re all here,
Today’s the day I’ll make that all clear,
Just swing away and let it flow,
Zing ball zing, like an arrow from the bow,

When I look down, the ball’s still there,
My club head met with nothing but air,
The boys stay straight faced, eyes aglow,
Well, Well, Well, the Lord Mayors show.

This clubs bent, I swear for sure!
I ain’t buying a Ping no more,
You carry on lads it’s going to rain,
My old backaches started again.

 MERRY CHRISTMAS
